What if you woke up one morning and the world was completely silent? No voices, no laughter, no music, just silence. That’s what happened to Suri. But when she gets her special dolls (hearing aids), things start to change. Follow Suri’s story as she finds new ways to hear, learn, and be happy again.
ORDER NOWOne moment, Suri is laughing, playing, and listening to the world around her. Then, everything is suddenly quiet. She doesn’t understand what’s happening, and she’s scared. Will she ever hear her mom’s voice again? Will she be able to talk to her friends?
With the help of her mom, a kind doctor, and her new magical dolls (hearing aids), Suri slowly learns to navigate this new world. This book is for kids, parents, and teachers who want to understand what it’s like to live with hearing loss, and how small changes can make a big difference.
Tapti Panda was born in Bhubaneswar, India, and has been practicing as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Hudson Valley, NY, for over 15 years. In her free time, she remains an active member of the local Indian community and enjoys hiking, painting, traveling, and spending time with her two children Sasrika Rajan and Satyak Rajan and her dog. Beyond clinical practice, she is passionate about advocating for wellness and equity, initially through her foundation, SNEHA (Saraswati Network for Education and Health Advocacy), and now through her writing. With this book, she aims to shed light on the often-overlooked complexities of hearing impairment and raise awareness about the importance of inclusion and support for individuals with hearing loss.
Suri’s story isn’t just about hearing loss, it’s about friendship, family, and finding ways to enjoy life no matter what challenges come your way. This book is a great way to help kids understand hearing aids, be more inclusive, and support friends who might experience hearing loss.
